Last night’s vote in the Senate reflects the fact that a majority of the American people recognize the principle of universal health coverage. Most Americans never want to see millions of Americans denied access to decent and affordable health care because they are sick, or may get sick or are poor.
Now that the Congressional GOP’s nakedly partisan effort to go back to the days before the ACA has failed, it is now time for a bi-partisan solution and a return to regular order. Every first world industrialized country guarantees universal health coverage. This shouldn’t be a partisan issue.
It’s now time for the Congress to get back to work for the American people — not the special interests. As a member of Congress, I will work with anybody who is willing to improve the health care system.
