What would be your priorities for the next two years?
My top priority would be to fix the health care system. I would support a Medicare and Medicaid buy-in for all programs in which any individual or business could select Medicare or Medicaid as their health insurance company. I would also make gun law reform a priority. I would support a ban on assault weapons as well as other gun safety measures.
Are you willing to depart from your party or the president on legislation or issues when you disagree? Could you identify some differences?
I would oppose any tax increase on any family making less than $200,000 per year. I am also opposed to any further military intervention in Syria or Iraq.
What legislation would you introduce or support that might specifically benefit Nebraska?
I support investment in renewable energy such as wind energy and solar energy. Nebraska is one of the windiest states in the country, and increased investments in renewable energy would create thousands of middle-class jobs.
What immigration reform, if any, would you support and would it include a path to citizenship or legal status for immigrants who have settled in the United States illegally?
I support an earned pathway to citizenship for undocumented workers. I also support the DREAM Act, which would provide a path of citizenship for the DACA youth.
What gun control measures, if any, would you support?
An assault weapons ban, end the immunity of liability of the gun manufacturing industry, require a universal background check system, raise the minimum age limit to 21 for all gun purchases, ban possession of guns by anyone subject to a domestic violence protection order and place limitations on multiple gun purchases by individuals.
